The Kindness of the Elephant | Short story

0
In the African savannah, there was a large elephant named Ellie. Ellie was known for her strength and size, but she was also known for her kindness. One day, a drought hit the savannah, and water became scarce. The animals were thirsty and worried about how they would survive.

Ellie, with her long memory, remembered a secret waterhole hidden deep in the forest. She set out to find it and, after a long journey, discovered that it still had water. But when Ellie returned to tell the other animals, she saw a group of small, weak animals – like the meerkats and hares – struggling to reach the remaining puddles of water near the river.

Ellie could have rushed to the waterhole and saved herself first, but instead, she chose to help the smaller animals. She used her trunk to carry water back to them, making sure everyone had enough to drink. Day after day, Ellie walked back and forth, bringing water to those who needed it the most.

The other animals were amazed by Ellie’s selflessness. They said, “Ellie, you’re the strongest animal here, but your kindness is what makes you truly powerful.”

Ellie smiled and said, “True strength isn’t just about power. It’s about helping others when they need it.”

The lesson: True strength lies in kindness. Like Ellie, when you use your abilities to help others, you become even stronger.
